What To Do After Your Accident

We strive to make your experience after an MVA as stress-free as possible. We will direct bill your insurance once you follow these steps:

1. File accident report with Police

.
2. Contact your insurance company immediately

3. Visit your doctor. It is recommended that you do this within 10 days of your accident to access pre-approved treatment defined under "Diagnostic and Treatment Protocols"

4. Provide the front desk at Integrated Therapies with the following information as soon as it becomes available to you:

- Name of the insurance company

- Name of adjuster dealing with your injury claim and their contact information (i.e. phone, email)

- Claim number and the date of the accident

If you are involved in a Motor Vehicle Accident, visit your doctor and get checked. You may not be aware of your injuries, or the extent of your injuries; symptoms might show up days or weeks after your accident. Going to the doctor will provide an assessment and documentation of your condition. This serves as a baseline for your care and can be useful if you need to go to court. Based on your assessment, you can access a maximum of 21 treatments for your condition. You can request massage therapy, acupuncture, or osteopathy treatments to help you recover from an MVA.

Prompt treatment will give you the best chance at recovery from car crash injuries. Insurance companies do not have the right to determine what treatments you access. Your primary health care practitioner does, based on your requests.

The Benefits Of Massage For Car Accident Injuries

Massage therapy can be a beneficial part of the recovery process for individuals who have sustained injuries in a car accident. However, it's essential to note that massage should be integrated into a comprehensive rehabilitation plan under the guidance of healthcare professionals. Here's an overview of how massage can help someone recover from injuries after a car accident:

Pain Relief: Massage therapy can help reduce pain and discomfort associated with car accident injuries, such as whiplash, muscle strains, and soft tissue injuries.By promoting blood circulation and releasing endorphins (natural painkillers), massage can provide temporary relief from acute pain.

Improved Blood Circulation: Massage increases blood flow to injured areas, which helps deliver essential nutrients and oxygen to damaged tissues.Improved circulation can aid in the removal of toxins and reduce inflammation.

Muscle Relaxation: Muscle tension and spasms often occur following car accidents. Massage techniques like Swedish massage and deep tissue massage can help relax tense muscles. Relaxation of muscles can enhance flexibility and reduce the risk of secondary injuries due to muscle imbalances.

Decreased Swelling and Edema: Some car accident injuries can lead to swelling and edema (fluid retention). Lymphatic drainage massage techniques can help reduce fluid buildup and promote healing.

Scar Tissue Management: Massage therapy can prevent excessive scar tissue formation in the injured area by promoting proper tissue alignment and flexibility. Scar tissue can lead to long-term pain and restricted range of motion if not managed correctly.

Stress Reduction: Car accidents can be traumatic and emotionally distressing. Massage therapy provides a calming and soothing experience, helping reduce stress, anxiety, and tension.

Enhanced Range of Motion: Through gentle stretching and mobilization techniques, massage therapists can work to improve joint flexibility and range of motion in injured areas. This can be especially beneficial for those with joint injuries or post-traumatic stiffness.

Promotion of Relaxation and Sleep: Adequate rest is essential for the body's healing process. Massage can promote relaxation and improve sleep quality, aiding in the overall recovery process.

Emotional Well-Being: The touch and care provided during massage can have a positive impact on an individual's emotional well-being, helping them cope with the psychological aspects of recovering from a car accident.

Coordination with Other Therapies: Massage therapy can complement other medical treatments, physical therapy, chiropractic care, or rehabilitation exercises, enhancing the overall effectiveness of the recovery plan.

It's crucial for individuals recovering from car accident injuries to consult with their healthcare providers before starting any massage therapy regimen. A qualified massage therapist should also have a thorough understanding of the specific injuries and conditions to tailor their techniques accordingly. Additionally, massage therapy should not replace medical evaluation and treatment when necessary, but rather be a supportive component of the overall recovery plan.
